The night I won at life: Fatherhood #Blessed

Inside this park, I have many memories. I grew up coming here. It’s as if every step, every seat, and every beam that holds this place up has a story. I sat in these stands often with my own father.

Tonight, I got to sit in these same stands as a father.

In this, I was keenly aware of this fact the whole match. And though our team, the Portland Timbers won the match and we loved every second of it, I won at life tonight because I got to enjoy the experience with my only child.

Tonight, it hit me. After 7 miscarriages and not being expected to have children, K arrived 17 years ago. A greater gift I will never know. It’s not Father’s Day yet, but it sure could have been.
