Pondering division, tactics, and the way forward

“And the battle’s just begun
There’s many lost, but tell me who has won?
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart”

– Dave Evans, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen, Paul David Hewson

Speaking to myself, and whichever side I choose to side with.. this week.

I think often times, we might be closer than we think but for the tactics we deploy which too often seem to drive those further away that we seek to reach.

If the mission is outreach, we fail every single time we fight those we oppose from within the safety of our own echo chamber.

With this, it is then the hype-cycle effect of the choir we too often times find ourselves preaching to that has a way of providing us all with a false sense of influence.

Oh how we too often play right into the very frozen perceptions others have of us. And yes, too often, the very frozen perceptions our words and tactics have firmly established.

Perhaps together we’re louder, but what if together, we’re no different than the other?

Oh how we all get lost in translation sometimes.

Is it even any wonder why our resistance is met with more resistance? If rebellions are built on hope, where is it? Sadly lost in translation of the resistance.

Emotion can sure do a lot with anger and logic can as well, do a lot with frozen or misperceptions. But it is wisdom that which can lead to sustained transformation when led with humility.

At some point, perhaps we’ll all realize that yeast, when led with this humility, is the change agent which ushers in love.

“We must in strength and humility meet hate with love.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

Such a sad irony though. The only accomplishments from all of this… are higher walls and deeper trenches dug within our hearts.

So, speak your mind, be outraged, but lead with humility with the action you’ll take between the very words you speak, and see change.

Lay down your sword and wash some feet my friend.

Your voice matters. Make it count.
